One of the most recognisable buildings on Spencer Street in Melbourne’s CBD was in need of a facelift, but contained heritage elements that could not be disturbed. This intricate work required the expertise of very specific craftspeople, as well as a regimented program to allow us to work on weekends and minimise disruption to traffic on a major city road.
Working from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and 10am to 5pm on Sundays, we painted and rendered all of the facades of this heritage building. On a macro level, this involved closing down parts of Spencer Street. At its most micro level, this project saw us completely restore the statue of a horse that sits atop the building. The final result is one that makes us particularly proud, as the building is highly visible to everyone driving into Melbourne’s CBD along Spencer Street.
